What You Will Learn
This training prepares individuals to administer medications, observe & report patient reactions & side effects, perform related emergency & recording duties under the supervision of a professional registered nurse and/or registered pharmacist; in assisted living residences, comprehensive personal care homes or assisted living programs.
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be eligible to sit for the New Jersey State Certified Medication Aide exam.
Topics:
The Certified Medication Aide (CMA) Program is a 3 week, 30-hour program that includes teaching on:
- Medication classifications
- Medication safety & the 5 rights of medications
- Measuring, preparing, and administering meds
- Understanding labels & MARs
- Documentation
- Infection control for med pass
- Common medications
Admission Requirements (CMA):
- Must be a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA), Home Health Aide (CHHA) or (Patient Care Tech (PCT), in the state of New Jersey
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Valid photo ID
- Social Security card
- Physical (form on website)
- QuanteFeron blood work
- Pay Non-refundable deposit
- Complete registration
